How to change Google Docs Bullets - At first Google Docs may look limited and seems like a watered-down version of a word processor. however the more you have used it, the more powerful and comprehensive you've found Google Docs to be. In fact, most commonly used word processing tools and techniques are accessible. And I’m finding some fun and artistic choices the more i use it!

Change or making custom bullets when creating a list is one technique that's both fun and engages the reader’s attention. It’s easy and here's how to do it

How to change Google Docs Bullets

  • Open a Google Docs file or create a new one.
  • Type a list of things. Press ENTER after each item.
  • Select the list.
  • Click Bulleted list.
  • Keep the list selected. From the Format menu, choose Bullets & numbering.
  • Click List options. Click more bullets.


  • Click on a symbol to add it as a bullet. Click close (X).
Thats the first way, and if you want to do it with a more simpler way, here is how to do it.
  • Once the series of bullet-points are selected you'll be able to then modify them.
  • Right-Click on the bullet-points and a pop-up-menu appears
  • Select more bullets…
  • See the Drop-Down options for Symbols and Arrows
  • Try out some alternative bullet-point symbols
