Adding music to your Google Slides Presentation can make a big difference to make it better. If you want to add background music to Google Slides Presentation, you can use a video from YouTube or Google Drive, or maybe a link to a third-party streaming service.

Using Youtube Video


Unfortunately, you can't add an audio file to google slide, but you can still add videos, and that's become the solution for users who want to add music to their presentation

The trick is to directly add the youtube video, load and play it with playback option and it will continue playing until you move to the next slide.

To do so, first after you open your Google Slides presentation and chose the slide where you want to add the video. In the top menu, click Insert > Video.

After that, you can search the video that you want to add, or you can just copy and paste the link of the video on the "By URL" tab.

after you paste the link on the provided box, a preview of your video will be shown. then just click the "Select" button.

If you don't have the link, just search for the relevant video and once you find it, select the video and "Select" button at the bottom to add it to your presentation.

The video will be inserted on the slide that you have chosen before, and now you can move or resize the video as you wish.

Using Google Drive Video


If you want to add your private video, you can use Google Drive as an alternative, to do that all you need is click on the "Google Drive" in the video insertion box as shown before.

Same as the youtube one, google drive video also will continue to play until you move to the next slide.

To add the Google Drive video, first, choose the slide, click Insert > Video, click the “Google Drive” tab, and then all you need is to find your video from your cloud storage.

Keep in mind that you need to have the video uploaded before, or sync your video files to Google Drive.

After you’ve found the video, click on it and then click the “Select” button.

After video inserted into your slide. then you can move and resize it to suit your presentation.

This method only works to add videos from the same Google account you’re using to create your Google Slides presentation. If you want to add another video, youtube is the best option.

Add Music from an Online Streaming Service


Google doesn’t allow you to directly insert an audio file to your presentation, that's why we use videos to add music as showed before. But there is still way, you can use music hosted on an online streaming service like SoundCloud or Spotify.

The music will load in a background tab, where it’ll continue playing until the audio finishes you close it manually.

To do so, First, you need to insert a playback object that you can easily click during your presentation, such as an image, a shape, or even a large text box. To insert a shape, click Insert > Shape and then select the shape you want.

You can drag or just click on the shape you want, after that you can add a text to that shape so it will have a clear purpose, it's not necessary though because the shape will also work without the text added into it.

Next, Right-click on that shape and click on "Link" on the menu. At this point, you'll have to have the URL of the audio or music that you want to add.

In the “Link” box, paste the URL of the audio that you get from your chosen third-party service and click “Apply” to confirm.

During your Google Slides presentation, clicking on the object will load and play the audio.

It can only be done in a separate tab, so if you’d prefer to keep everything inside your presentation, use YouTube or Google Drive video instead.

And you want to add Only music and not the video, you can move the video outside the "presentation screen" so the music could be played without seeing the video.
